Gangwon-do Invests 978.7 Billion Won in 7 Areas to 'Boost Economic Vitality'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Gangwon Province will invest a budget of approximately 978.7 billion KRW and provide financial support across 7 sectors and 57 projects this year to aid damages caused by COVID-19 and to revitalize the economy.
On the 3rd, Gangwon Province held an expanded emergency economic countermeasure meeting chaired by Governor Choi Moon-soon, stating, "Apart from the 2nd emergency livelihood stabilization fund, we plan to promote tailored support for COVID-19 damage victims, employment stability, consumption stimulation, and regional economic revitalization with quarantine measures, focusing on non-face-to-face and online transitions by sector as the main policy direction."
At the meeting attended by heads of departments and economic policy advisors, it was decided to invest 626.6 billion KRW in 23 projects as major damage support measures across 7 sectors.
The main sectors include 120 billion KRW for small business management stabilization funds, 250 billion KRW for expanding support industries for small and medium enterprise development funds, 4.4 billion KRW for the Gangwon Happiness Job Project, and 50.8 billion KRW for forest job projects.
Additionally, 34 projects with a total of 352.1 billion KRW will be invested in major economic revitalization measures by sector.
Key measures include 170 billion KRW for distribution activation such as expanding special discounts on mobile Gangwon gift certificates, 1.5 billion KRW for implementing the Gangwon Safe Tourism Comprehensive Special Measures (including Gangwon Tour Pass), and 87 billion KRW for supporting sales channels for agricultural and livestock products.
In particular, to align with consumption pattern changes caused by COVID-19, 600 million KRW will be allocated to expand the distribution of the delivery app 'Ildan Sikyeo' to cities and counties, 3.2 billion KRW to establish the global studio 'GangwonLIVE,' and 970 million KRW to build a one-stop non-face-to-face job service, promoting non-face-to-face and online business activation.
