Individual Investors Buy 10 Trillion KRW of Samsung Electronics Shares in January... Surpassing Last Year's Annual Volume
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] Individual investors purchased more than 10 trillion KRW worth of Samsung Electronics shares in January alone. The amount bought in just one month has already surpassed last year's total net purchase volume.
According to the financial investment industry on the 31st, from January 1 to 29 this year, individuals net purchased 10.1563 trillion KRW worth of Samsung Electronics shares. This exceeds last year's annual net purchase volume of 9.5951 trillion KRW. Compared to 1.2769 trillion KRW in January last year, it is eight times higher. On a monthly basis, it is also double the 4.9587 trillion KRW net purchase volume recorded in March last year, which was the highest monthly net purchase.
This month, individuals net purchased Samsung Electronics shares on 16 out of 20 trading days. There were even three days when they net purchased more than 10 million shares in a single day. This year, individuals net purchased a total of 24.0355 trillion KRW in the KOSPI market. Samsung Electronics accounts for 42% of this amount.

On the other hand, during the same period, institutions and foreigners net sold 66.46 million shares and 52.39 million shares of Samsung Electronics, respectively.
