Volkswagen Launches New Urban Compact SUV T-Roc Starting at 35.99 Million KRW
Best-Selling Compact SUV... Available for Purchase at Around 32 Million KRW Including Benefits
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Volkswagen Korea announced on the 29th that it will begin domestic sales of the new T-Roc, an urban compact sport utility vehicle (SUV). The new T-Roc is one of Volkswagen's global best-selling models, with nearly 500,000 units sold worldwide.
Volkswagen is positioning the new T-Roc as a strategic model to "popularize imported cars" in the market. With the launch of the new T-Roc, Volkswagen has established a lineup ranging from compact SUVs such as the T-Roc, Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace, to luxury large SUVs like the Touareg.
The exterior of the new T-Roc embodies both the sportiness that reveals the dynamism of an SUV and an urban style. The front features a wide radiator grille and dual headlights equipped with organic light-emitting diode (LED) technology, and the newly positioned light signature makes the T-Roc recognizable even at night. The rear features the 'VW' logo and a chrome T-Roc signature.
Additionally, although the new T-Roc has a compact body, it applies the MQB platform to achieve a long wheelbase of 2605 mm compared to the overall length of 4235 mm, providing a comfortable and cozy interior space. The trunk cargo space is also among the largest in 5-seater SUV models at 445 liters, which can be expanded up to 1290 liters by folding the second-row seats.
The new T-Roc is also equipped with Volkswagen's latest infotainment system, 'MIB3 (3rd generation Modular Infotainment Matrix)'. The digital cockpit, which delivers high-resolution graphics, enhances visibility, and the 8-inch multi-color touchscreen display with Korean navigation is positioned at the top of the dashboard for intuitive use by the driver. All trims feature the 'Wireless App Connect' function, allowing wireless connection between smartphones and the infotainment display, supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new T-Roc combines a 2.0 TDI engine with a 7-speed DSG transmission, delivering a maximum output of 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 34.7 kg·m. The top speed reaches 205 km/h, and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds. The combined fuel efficiency of the new T-Roc 2.0 TDI model is 15.1 km/l, with urban and highway mileage of 13.8 km/l and 17 km/l respectively, demonstrating high fuel efficiency.
The prices are 35,992,000 KRW for the Style model, 39,343,000 KRW for the Premium model, and 40,328,000 KRW for the Prestige model. All trims offer up to a 5% discount when using the Volkswagen Financial Services program, and a vehicle return compensation program provides an additional 2 million KRW discount when used. With all discounts applied, the Style model can be purchased starting from the 32 million KRW range (including a 3.5% individual consumption tax).
