The Festival Automobile International is the most prestigious event in the automotive design field, held annually to exhibit concept cars and automobiles with outstanding designs and to select the most beautiful cars, art projects, and top designers of the year.
The Designer of the Year award is given to a design leader who has achieved the most impressive accomplishments with original and creative designs. At Hyundai Motor Company, Peter Schreyer, President of Design Management at Hyundai Motor Group, won this award in 2014, and Ian Callum, former Chief of Design at Jaguar, received it last year.
The organizers of the Festival Automobile International stated, "The judges unanimously voted for Executive Vice President Lee, who showed the best achievements this year," adding, "The pure and beautiful design demonstrated through the concept car Prophecy was particularly impressive."
Executive Vice President Lee joined Hyundai Motor Company in 2016 after accumulating over 20 years of experience at global automotive brands such as GM, Volkswagen, Audi, and Bentley. He is recognized for clearly presenting the identity of Hyundai and Genesis brands through differentiated design strategies.
Hyundai and Genesis's design strategies were acknowledged for consistently delivering brand identity to customers, and in October last year, they were selected for the 'Design Value Award' hosted by the Design Management Institute (DMI) in the United States.
Executive Vice President Lee said, "As an automotive designer, I want to share this honor with all my colleagues, including the mentors who accepted me as family," adding, "I will continue to fulfill my role so that Hyundai Motor Company can be recognized through designs tailored to diverse customer lifestyles and uphold my duty for a better future."
