[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Former Aekyung Development CEO Chae Seungseok, who was detained in court on charges of illegal use of the psychoactive anesthetic propofol, has been released on bail.
On the 26th, the 9th Criminal Appeals Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Choi Handon) accepted the bail request from former CEO Chae (51), who was indicted for violating the Narcotics Control Act, and granted bail.
The court imposed conditions restricting his residence and requiring prior notification to the court before travel or departure. The bail bond was set at 30 million won.
Chae, the third son of Aekyung Group Chairwoman Jang Youngshin, is accused of illegally administering propofol about 100 times at a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from September 2017 to November 2019.
He is also charged with attempting to conceal the illegal use by providing personal information of acquaintances to the hospital director and having the administration records divided and falsified about 90 times in the medical records.
