[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] The recognition of the local residents regarding the ‘Yellow City Project’ promoted by Jangseong-gun, Jeonnam, was found to be very high.
According to the results of the ‘2020 Jangseong-gun Social Survey’ announced by the county on the 26th, 92.9% of the residents knew about the Yellow City Project.
When asked about the tourist attractions they would like to introduce, Jangseongho Waterfront Trail and Suspension Bridge received the most selections.
As for the effects of the project promotion, ‘influx of tourists and economic effects’ (52.2%) and ‘creation of nature-friendly landscapes’ (30.8%) were most frequently cited.
‘Yellow City’ is a unique urban development project of Jangseong that started from the Hwangryonggang River.
The county transformed a rural town with no distinctive features into a sophisticated yellow-colored city and rediscovered the value of abandoned land to rebirth it as a premium tourist destination.
Jangseongho Waterfront Trail and Hwangryonggang River are representative examples. Just a few years ago, these places were full of bushes, but now they are considered representative tourist attractions of Jangseong.
The thoughts of Jangseong residents were no different.
When asked about the tourist attractions they most wanted to introduce, Jangseongho Waterfront Trail and Suspension Bridge (25.6%) and Hwangryonggang River (21%) ranked first and second respectively, showing a significant spread of positive perception toward the Jangseongho Waterfront Trail.
The county is making continuous efforts to improve the tourism conditions of Jangseongho Waterfront Trail, including the opening of the Golden Suspension Bridge following the Yellow Suspension Bridge, promotion of the Waterfront 100-ri Trail project, operation of convenience facilities and Waterfront Market, and expansion of parking spaces, and plans to foster it as a stay-type tourist destination in the long term.
Meanwhile, when asked about satisfaction with county administration, the welfare sector (48.9%) was the most frequently answered by residents.
The county has been continuously promoting outstanding welfare policies such as support for shingles vaccination costs, filial piety coupons, and the lowering of earthen walls project, receiving great responses from residents.
