4 Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed at US Forces Yongsan and Pyeongtaek Bases in Korea
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]The United States Forces Korea (USFK) announced on the 26th that four individuals, including family members of USFK soldiers and civilian employees, tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Two family members of soldiers stationed at the Yongsan US military base were confirmed positive through asymptomatic screening tests on the 23rd and 25th, respectively. Their last visit to the Yongsan base was on the 21st.
One civilian employee assigned to the Yongsan base, who had been classified as a self-quarantine subject amid the recent surge of confirmed cases, tested positive in a test conducted before release from quarantine the day before.
One civilian employee at Camp Humphreys, a US military base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, tested positive on the 23rd after direct contact with a confirmed case within the same base on the 22nd.
All of them have been transferred to a COVID-19 dedicated isolation facility within Camp Humphreys and are receiving treatment. The USFK is conducting epidemiological investigations in cooperation with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, while also implementing disinfection measures for facilities inside and outside the bases they visited.

With this, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases related to the USFK has risen to 669. In response to the recent surge of COVID-19 infections within US military bases, the USFK has extended the 'stay-at-home order' period for personnel assigned to the Yongsan US military base and some personnel at Camp Humphreys until the 27th.
