Seoul Jung-gu Expands Local Job Projects Including CleanCodi
Solving Various Neighborhood Issues with Resident Jobs, Direct Recruitment and Hiring by Community Service Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) is expanding the 'Our Neighborhood Jobs' project, which enables residents to solve local problems by themselves.
'Our Neighborhood Jobs' is a resident participation project initiated by Jung-gu. Previously, personnel for tasks such as cleaning, pedestrian safety, and park maintenance were collectively hired and managed by the relevant district office departments. However, the Our Neighborhood Jobs project hires residents living in the respective neighborhood directly through the local community service center, helping local residents to 'solve the problems of the neighborhood they live in by themselves.'
Last year, jobs involving local residents centered around community service centers were operated, hiring a total of 198 people across 15 fields, which received great positive responses from residents.
The Clean Coordinators, composed of four residents per neighborhood, selected habitual illegal dumping areas that can only be truly understood by living there, discussed solutions with nearby residents, and presented various suggestions such as installing CCTV and high-intensity lighting to the responsible officials.
Additionally, continuous resident guidance on waste disposal was conducted, greatly helping to solve cleaning issues.
The Park Beautification activities through hiring people with developmental disabilities were recognized for improving the neighborhood environment and providing social participation opportunities for the disabled, winning the Encouragement Award in the Win-Win Cooperation category at the Seoul Creative Awards in the second half of 2020.
This year, a total of 245 people will be hired across 11 fields by discovering jobs that reflect residents' voices.
The most focused job is the 'Living Quarantine Coordinator,' responsible for life quarantine in each neighborhood to respond to COVID-19. This role involves managing quarantine in multi-use facilities and residential areas, delivering quarantine supplies, and promoting awareness to create a safe quarantine environment for residents.
Other jobs include operating a book caf? within resident community spaces as baristas, and roles such as 'Our Village YouTuber,' among various other job opportunities.
