KEVT is a system that evaluates and certifies electric vehicle maintenance skills for Kia's maintenance partner Auto Q and its affiliated maintenance engineers. Through this, Kia plans to enhance the quality of electric vehicle maintenance services, improve customer trust, and establish itself as a top-tier electric vehicle company.
Kia operates KEVT by classifying it into two levels based on technical competency: Basic and Pro.
For individual maintenance skill certification targeting Auto Q engineers, to obtain the Basic level, candidates must complete two training courses, ‘EV Essential’ and ‘EV Diagnosis I,’ followed by a written evaluation. To receive the Pro level, candidates must first obtain the Basic level, complete the ‘EV Diagnosis II’ training, and pass the evaluation.
EV Essential covers education on electric vehicle maintenance safety and specialized systems; EV Diagnosis I focuses on electric vehicle diagnostic repairs and parts replacement methods; EV Diagnosis II provides training on advanced electric vehicle diagnostic repairs and understanding of new electric vehicle technologies.
For Auto Q partner companies, certification is granted based on whether they possess electric vehicle maintenance infrastructure. To receive the Basic level, they must have the basic equipment necessary for electric vehicle maintenance and at least one engineer who has obtained the KEVT Basic level.
To achieve the Pro level, they must secure at least one Pro level engineer and one Basic level engineer, including a dedicated workspace called an electric vehicle work bay. Auto Q partner companies that acquire Basic and Pro level qualifications will be awarded certification plaques.
The Basic level certification for individual maintenance skills and Auto Q partner companies began this February, while the Pro level will be conducted starting next year.
Kia plans to promote education and infrastructure acquisition so that more than 50% of Auto Q nationwide can obtain the KEVT Basic level by the first half of this year.
