Resumption of Operations at Dongdaemun-gu Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center
Partial Reopening of Cultural Facilities with Museum Visits and Venue Rentals Resuming... Selected as 'Seoul-style Wellness' by Seoul City and Recognized for Excellent Medical Tourism Infrastructure
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center (Director Nam-sook Jo) in Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Deok-yeol Yoo), which had been temporarily closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, has partially resumed operations starting from the 21st.
This reopening follows the Seoul Metropolitan Government's directive to resume cultural facility operations beginning January 19. At the Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center, visitors can now tour the Seoul Yakryeongsi Oriental Medicine Museum and use rental facilities such as the multipurpose auditorium and the medicinal food experience hall.
Depending on the future COVID-19 situation, programs such as the foot bath experience and oriental medicine experience rooms will gradually resume operations.
To ensure visitors' safe viewing, the center strictly enforces △a maximum of 15 people allowed at the same time △mandatory mask-wearing upon entry △temperature checks and entry log registration △maintaining at least 2 meters distance between users △enhanced disinfection before and after operations.
Additionally, non-face-to-face education and experiences introduced during the temporary closure will continue to be offered.
▲Online museum exhibition viewing ▲Online education through SNS channels provide valuable content themed around oriental medicine, allowing visitors who find it difficult to visit in person to enjoy cultural activities at home via the official website and SNS channels.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center was recognized for its excellent medical tourism infrastructure in Seoul and was selected last December as one of the ‘Seoul-type Wellness’ top 70 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation.
‘Seoul-type Wellness’ breaks away from the traditional wellness stereotype focused on healing in nature and refers to ‘urban wellness’ that can be enjoyed in the city, encompassing five themes: ▲beauty & spa ▲well-being food ▲fitness & yoga ▲nature & forest healing ▲healing & meditation, representing outstanding tourism facilities.
As a highly rated wellness facility, the center plans to continue serving as a space where citizens can soothe and heal their minds.
Deok-yeol Yoo, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We hope the Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center, representing Seoul-type wellness, will be a source of vitality for residents during these challenging times of COVID-19,” and added, “The center will thoroughly implement disinfection measures for visitors’ safety. We kindly ask all visitors to strictly follow the quarantine guidelines.”
