South Korea National Team Prepares for Playoffs with Training Camp

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 21st that the South Korean women's national football team, led by coach Colin Bell, has chosen Gangjin as the training site to prepare for their first-ever qualification for the Olympic finals and has begun intensive training.
The current training camp, which started in Gangjin on the 18th, will continue until the 10th of next month at the dedicated football stadiums Yeongnang and Dasan.
The women's national team training, consisting of 39 players and staff members, is scheduled with a rigorous program including physical training, passing drills, tactical training, and shooting games.
Coach Colin Bell stated, “The mild weather and the top-quality natural grass fields are very attractive,” adding, “Our training goal is to enhance the players' condition in the optimal environment.”
The women's national team will play the first leg of the playoff against China at 8 p.m. on the 19th of next month at Jeju World Cup Stadium, and the second leg will be held in China on the 24th, where the qualification for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics will be decided.
Lee Seung-ok, the mayor of Gangjin-gun, expressed, “We welcome the women's national football team, who are preparing for this historic match, choosing Gangjin-gun, a sports mecca with the best training conditions, as their training site,” and wished for their successful qualification for the Olympic finals.
Meanwhile, before the Gangjin-gun training camp, the women's football team completed COVID-19 diagnostic tests and submitted all negative test results to Gangjin-gun. They will conduct training while strictly following quarantine measures such as daily temperature checks and wearing masks.
Additionally, Gangjin-gun is supporting smooth training by cooperating with related organizations to maintain facilities, disinfect accommodations, and operate quarantine posts at the training ground entrances in preparation for the women's national team training camp.
