The Robot Museum will be built in the Chang-dong and Sanggye areas, where there is a strong desire for expanding cultural facilities, with a budget of approximately 43.6 billion KRW. Construction contracts and groundbreaking started in April this year, and the museum is scheduled to be completed by July 2023.
Utilizing the abundant human resources and the surrounding population of the four northeastern districts, it will serve as a central hub for science education and technical support covering the northeastern metropolitan area.
The Seoul Photography Art Museum, the country's first public art museum establishing 140 years of Korean photography history, will begin construction in September this year with a project cost of about 27.3 billion KRW and is scheduled to open in October 2023.
The Photography Art Museum will establish itself as an institution leading the continuously changing and expanding trends of photographic media, building domestic and international networks in photography and video arts.

Council member Kim Yong-seok stated, “Existing museums and art galleries are concentrated in the downtown area, so Dobong-gu has been relatively lacking in cultural infrastructure and culturally marginalized. The upcoming Robot Museum and Photography Art Museum will become cultural landmarks of science and photography, expanding various cultural, educational, and experiential opportunities for citizens and contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.”
