The association's board of directors held the first meeting of 2021 in the afternoon and unanimously approved the extension of Chairman Won's term.
According to the articles of association, the chairman's term is two years, with one possible reappointment, and only reappointed chairmen can have their term extended once more by a special resolution of the board.
Chairman Won assumed office as the 21st chairman in February 2017 and was reappointed for another two-year term in February 2019.

The board stated, "Considering the public's expectations for the pharmaceutical and bio-pharma industry amid COVID-19, we judged that Chairman Won, who has led the association so far, is the right person to achieve global success for our industry."
