Songpa-gu Self-Directed Learning Center Winter Vacation Program Operation
Unveiling Self-Directed Learning Strategies for Untact Semester Preparation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is operating the ‘Songpa-gu Self-Directed Learning Center Winter Vacation Program’ to alleviate academic anxiety and support stable learning as self-directed learning ability has become important due to the rapidly changing learning environment caused by COVID-19.
The Songpa-gu Self-Directed Learning Center has prepared a special winter vacation program to help students who experienced academic gaps due to COVID-19 develop proper learning methods and foster self-directedness, especially for those struggling with online classes.
First, to prepare for untact semesters, the program ‘Winter Vacation Study Method Ssaksseuri with Songpa Teacher Mentors’ will be operated.
Targeting middle and high school students, it will be provided once a week through the Songpa Teacher YouTube channel, introducing specific learning methods that students may have missed over five episodes.
The first episode covers ‘How to Read Texts, the Most Basic of All Studies,’ the second episode offers ‘Various Planner Writing Methods’ for students experiencing trial and error with plans that do not suit their tendencies, the third episode presents ‘Effective Online Lecture Study Methods’ to survive in an untact educational environment, the fourth episode focuses on ‘The Core of Excelling in Mathematics,’ and the fifth episode provides ‘Specific Steps and Methods for Studying Memorization Subjects.’
The vivid study know-how from senior mentors is expected to ignite students’ motivation to learn.
Additionally, to address and prevent issues such as academic gaps and learning deficits caused by prolonged online classes, the ‘Songpa Teacher Homeschooling Winter Vacation Program’ will be operated.
This program focuses on preventing basic academic decline for lower-grade elementary students, the starting point of the curriculum.
Through Korean and math textbooks for grades 1 to 3, learning assistance and partner learning with Songpa Teacher helpers will take place, with online progress checks and learning coaching provided.
The monitored learning results will be checked through two-way communication between Songpa Teacher and parents.
Furthermore, the ‘MLST Learning Strategy Test and Counseling’ program, which checks disrupted learning habits caused by COVID-19 and suggests solutions, is also prepared. It is conducted online (PC, mobile) as an individual test for students from 5th grade elementary to 2nd grade high school.
Test results delivery and counseling are conducted online, and the test fee is 4,000 KRW.
Applications for this Songpa Teacher Self-Directed Learning Center Winter Vacation Program are available on the Songpa Teacher Education Portal website.
