[Asia Economy Reporters Seongpil Cho, Gimin Lee] Lee Jae-yong, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, who was shackled by judicial restraints due to the state affairs manipulation scandal, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison and detained in court on the 18th during the retrial after remand.
Earlier, in August 2019, the Supreme Court's full bench overturned and remanded the case, ruling that the 3.4 billion KRW horse purchase cost for Jung Yura, daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil), and the 1.6 billion KRW sponsorship for the Winter Sports Gifted Center should be considered bribes. On this day, the retrial court ruled in accordance with the full bench's judgment on the remand.
