[Today's Weather] Up to 15cm 'Snow Bomb' from Dawn... Coastal Areas Beware of Strong Winds
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] On Monday the 18th, heavy snow will fall until the morning and then gradually clear up from the afternoon. The heavy snow is forecast to be concentrated between dawn and the morning.
The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "On the 18th, the nationwide morning low temperatures will range from -8 to 0 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high temperatures will be between -1 and 8 degrees Celsius, which is 3 to 8 degrees higher than the previous day. However, up to 15 cm of heavy snow is expected in the central regions until the afternoon."
The expected snowfall by evening is forecast as follows: △5 to 10 cm in eastern Gyeonggi and Gangwon (excluding the East Coast), and northern Chungcheong △15 cm or more in central and southern Yeongseo, Gangwon △2 to 7 cm in Seoul and the metropolitan area (excluding eastern Gyeonggi), southern Chungcheong, southern North Chungcheong, inland Jeonbuk, and northern Gyeongbuk.
Strong winds with speeds of 10 to 16 m/s will blow from the morning along the West Coast, South Coast, Gangwon mountain areas, northeastern Gyeongbuk mountain areas, near Jirisan, and Jeju Island. Winds of 8 to 14 m/s are also forecast in southern inland Gyeonggi, inland Chungcheong, inland Honam, and the East Coast.
The sea waves will be 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea coastal waters, 1.0 to 3.0 meters in the West Sea coastal waters, and 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the South Sea coastal waters. Especially around the northern and eastern seas of Ulleungdo, waves are expected to be higher, so caution is advised for navigation and fishing operations.
The morning low temperatures are forecast as follows: △Seoul -4°C △Chuncheon -7°C △Gangneung -2°C △Daejeon -3°C △Cheongju -2°C △Daegu -4°C △Gwangju -2°C △Jeonju -2°C △Busan -2°C △Jeju 4°C.
The daytime high temperatures are expected to be: △Seoul 3°C △Chuncheon 2°C △Gangneung 5°C △Daejeon 5°C △Cheongju 5°C △Daegu 5°C △Gwangju 7°C △Jeonju 6°C △Busan 8°C △Jeju 10°C.
Fine dust levels will be 'Good' to 'Moderate' across all regions. However, the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and Honam region are forecast to experience 'Bad' levels temporarily in the morning.

The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "In areas where snow is falling, visibility will be reduced, and as temperatures drop below freezing, the snow may freeze and create icy roads. When driving, please maintain sufficient distance between vehicles and reduce speed to prevent collision accidents. We ask for special attention to pedestrian safety and traffic safety."
