Game Hotspot Seven Eleven, Lunar New Year Gift 'Super Mario 3D World' Pre-Order Sale
Pre-Order Sales Until February 10
Increasing Demand for Games Enjoyed at Home
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Convenience store Seven Eleven announced on the 17th that it will offer a pre-order sale of the Nintendo Switch game "Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury" for 59,800 KRW as a New Year's holiday gift. The regular price is 64,800 KRW, so this is a 5,000 KRW discount.
This is because more people are looking for entertainment to enjoy at home due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Especially as games are gaining popularity, the Korea Creative Content Agency estimates that the domestic game market size exceeded approximately 17 trillion KRW last year. This figure represents about a 9% increase compared to the previous year. Sales of entertainment-related products are also increasing at convenience stores. Last year, Seven Eleven's Google gift card sales increased by 32.4% compared to the previous year. In residential commercial districts, toy sales increased by 27.7%, toy candy by 16.2%, and snacks and confectionery by 14.5%.
The release of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury was planned with this trend in mind. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a game released to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., including new elements such as courses and characters, and will be officially released for the Nintendo Switch version on the 12th of next month. It supports multiplayer for up to four players as well as single-player mode.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury can be pre-ordered at nearby Seven Eleven stores until the 10th of next month, and will be delivered free of charge sequentially to designated addresses starting from the 15th of next month. Seven Eleven offers a 5,000 KRW discount to pre-order customers and provides a free eco bag featuring Super Mario characters.
Along with this, Seven Eleven also sells three other products: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit "Mario Set" and "Luigi Set" (each priced at 109,800 KRW), and the Nintendo Switch (360,000 KRW).
