Refusal of Jewish Food Delivery, Deportation of Algerians Living in France
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] An Algerian man residing in France was sentenced to prison and deported for refusing to deliver kosher food made according to Jewish law.
Gerald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, announced on Twitter on the 14th (local time) that "we have decided to deport the delivery worker who stated that he did not want to deliver food to Jewish customers."
The man, who worked as a delivery worker for the delivery agency 'Deliveroo' in Strasbourg, canceled a delivery last week citing "Israeli food" as the reason and was sued by two Jewish restaurant owners.

Charged with racial discrimination, he appeared in court with an interpreter and admitted to canceling the delivery but claimed he never said he would not deliver to Jews. The court sentenced him to four months in prison. The man entered France about a year ago on a tourist visa, and after the visa expired, he illegally stayed and was found to have been working as a delivery person using someone else's account.
