Jeongeup-si Supports University Freshmen with Scholarships and Job-Seeking Grants
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) announced on the 15th that it will continue to provide scholarships and job-seeking support funds this year to university freshmen and job seekers who are preparing for employment without entering university.
Since the 7th local government administration, the city has been providing scholarships and job-seeking support funds of 1 million KRW per person annually to help freshmen preparing for university life and young adults preparing for employment without entering university stabilize their living conditions.
Eligible applicants must be graduates of this year’s high school graduating class, with the student or their father or mother having resided in the jurisdiction for more than three years. Those who have passed the qualification exam are also eligible.
The city has set the intensive application period from the 1st to the 16th of next month and plans to make lump-sum payments within March. For those who miss this period, applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Applications can be submitted at the resident centers of the relevant eup, myeon, or dong corresponding to the applicant’s address, and applications are accepted during weekday working hours excluding holidays.

A city official stated, “Since 2019, as part of the 7th local government administration’s pledge project, we have been promoting this to raise pride in residing in Jeongeup and foster hometown affection among university freshmen and job seekers living in our city,” adding, “We plan to continue providing 1 million KRW annually going forward.”
