High Pathogenicity Suspected in AI Case at Duck Farm in Hadong, Gyeongnam; Testing Underway
Emergency Culling and Burial of Approximately 49,000 Poultry within 3km Including the Farm
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongnam Province reported an occurrence of AI suspected cases (H5 antigen detected) at a meat duck farm located in Okjong-myeon, Hadong-gun.
This is the fourth occurrence in the province following Jinju-si, Goseong-gun, and Geochang-gun.
On the 14th, during surveillance, the province received a report of deaths at a meat duck farm in Hadong.
Tests conducted by the Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory confirmed the detection of the H5 type AI antigen.
Gyeongnam Province immediately deployed an initial quarantine team to the affected farm, imposed movement restrictions on the farm, and conducted thorough disinfection inside and outside the livestock facilities as well as on nearby roads.
They are currently carrying out culling of approximately 49,000 birds across 33 farms within a 3 km radius.
Three checkpoints have been established, and farms epidemiologically linked to the suspected case farm will be subject to immediate movement restrictions and surveillance.

The province urged individual farms to adhere to biosecurity protocols to prevent further spread and announced plans to strengthen the response system by installing additional road control checkpoints near the outbreak site and conducting daily disinfection around farms and migratory bird habitats.
