[Today's Weather] "Bring an Umbrella"... Cloudy with Rain in Various Inland Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] On Friday the 15th, the nation will be mostly cloudy with rain expected in some areas including the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungcheong region.
Due to a low-pressure system passing over North Korea near the Bohai Sea in China, rain will begin in the morning in the Seoul metropolitan area and western Gangwon, expanding in the afternoon to inland Chungcheong, inland Jeolla, and some northern inland areas of Gyeongbuk.
Most of the precipitation will fall as rain, but in high mountain areas where temperatures are low, rain or snow will fall (snow in the Gangwon mountain areas). Rain will mostly ease in the afternoon in the Seoul metropolitan and inland Chungcheong areas, and at night in other regions.
Jeju Island will experience rain at night (rain or snow in Jeju’s mountainous areas), and there may be raindrops in the central region from dawn to morning.
Expected snowfall amounts are 1?3 cm in the Gangwon mountain areas. Expected precipitation amounts are △5?10 mm in eastern Gyeonggi, western Gangwon, and northern Chungbuk △less than 5 mm in the Seoul metropolitan area (excluding eastern Gyeonggi), inland Chungnam, southern Chungbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, inland Jeolla, Jeju Island, and Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
From dawn to morning, dense fog with visibility below 200 meters is expected in inland Jeolla, and fog with visibility under 1 km may occur in other inland areas.
The fog is expected to remain as light fog or haze during the day in many places, so attention to health management is advised.
Morning low temperatures are forecast as follows: △Seoul 1°C △Chuncheon -4°C △Gangneung 1°C △Daejeon 0°C △Cheongju 0°C △Daegu 0°C △Gwangju 4°C △Jeonju 3°C △Busan 8°C △Jeju 7°C.
Daytime high temperatures are expected to be: △Seoul 9°C △Chuncheon 8°C △Gangneung 14°C △Daejeon 12°C △Cheongju 11°C △Daegu 15°C △Gwangju 15°C △Jeonju 14°C △Busan 15°C △Jeju 17°C.
Fine dust levels will be 'bad' in the Seoul metropolitan area, western Gangwon, Chungcheong, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk, and 'moderate' in other regions. Eastern Gangwon, Jeonnam, Yeongnam, and Jeju areas will also experience 'bad' levels temporarily.
The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "Visibility will decrease in areas with rain or snow, and as temperatures drop below freezing in the morning and at night, frozen snow or rain may cause icy roads, making many places slippery. Please be cautious for traffic safety and pedestrian safety."
