Cheongam University Signs Business Agreement with ComicsV Co., Ltd... Anticipating Industry-Academic Cooperation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Cheongam University (President Seo Hyung-won) announced on the 14th that, as part of the specialized college innovation support project, it signed a business cooperation agreement and employment agreement to revitalize industry-academia cooperation at the first-floor conference room of Cheongam Hall the day before, attended by President Seo Hyung-won, CEO Yang Byung-seok of media content technology company ComicsV Co., Ltd., and about 10 related personnel.
Accordingly, both institutions agreed to cooperate on △ nurturing talent required by industries △ cooperation on industrial field experience and practical on-site training △ development of customized curricula △ mutual participation in non-regular course programs and lecture exchanges △ joint project execution through industry-academia cooperation.
At the signing ceremony, President Seo Hyung-won said, “Despite the Webtoon Content Department being newly established starting this year, it has achieved 100% of its student recruitment quota, marking a good start. With the signing of the industry-academia cooperation and employment agreements with ComicsV Co., Ltd., we are also starting this year with good results.” He added, “Going forward, let us grow together with ComicsV Co., Ltd. so that both institutions can also contribute to the local community.”
CEO Yang Byung-seok of ComicsV Co., Ltd. expressed his thoughts, saying, “During the short time since coming down to Suncheon, I thought it is a city with great potential and a good place to develop content while hiring employees here.”
He continued, “I hope that by jointly promoting government R&D projects with Cheongam University and closely cooperating in the VR webtoon education field, it will become a stepping stone for Cheongam University students to go global.”
Jung Chan-joo, Director of Industry-Academia Cooperation, stated, “Through the employment agreement with ComicsV Co., Ltd., Cheongam University’s Webtoon Content Department and Computer Information Department each signed employment contracts for two students. We will jointly develop VR webtoon and webtoon education curricula and proceed with industry-academia cooperation R&D projects, seeking a path for mutual growth and cooperation between the two institutions.”
Meanwhile, Jang Woong, Head of the Webtoon Content Department, said, “The VR education part being conducted with Chung-Ang Culture Industry University and Sejong University will also be supported and conducted in the same form at Cheongam University’s Webtoon Content Department.” He added, “Since ComicsV Co., Ltd. also has a webtoon platform, we will actively cooperate closely with the company regarding students’ debut as writers and employment, striving to help students support each other and engage in various activities together.”
Cheongam University also signed a business cooperation agreement with Suncheon City in August last year to establish a regional comic culture industry cooperation system.
