Dongdaemun-gu Selected as the Best Institution for 4 Consecutive Years in the National Civil Service Comprehensive Evaluation
Top 10% and Highest Grade in 2020 Civil Service Comprehensive Evaluation by Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission... Excellent Ratings in Multiple Areas Including Agency Head's High Interest, On-Site Civil Service Activities, and Thorough Follow-Up Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) has been selected as the best institution for four consecutive years since 2017 in the ‘2020 Comprehensive Evaluation of Civil Complaint Services’ jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The ‘2020 Comprehensive Evaluation of Civil Complaint Services’ was conducted on a total of 304 institutions, including metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide, central administrative agencies, and city/provincial offices of education, evaluating the performance of civil complaint service operations from October 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020.
Dongdaemun-gu received an ‘A grade,’ which corresponds to the top 10% nationwide.
This evaluation was conducted through written assessments and telephone surveys on civil complaint satisfaction based on three areas: ▲civil complaint administrative management foundation ▲civil complaint administrative activities ▲civil complaint processing performance, and five items: ▲civil complaint administrative strategy and system ▲civil complaint system operation ▲People’s Petition civil complaints ▲grievance civil complaints ▲civil complaint satisfaction, with 18 detailed evaluation indicators.
Dongdaemun-gu received high marks for the institution head’s strong interest in improving civil complaint administrative services and on-site civil complaint activities, operation of various civil complaint services for socially considerate groups such as pregnant women, the elderly, and the disabled, thorough confirmation and follow-up management by the institution head on civil complaint processing status, reduction of unnecessary required documents and improvement of civil complaint forms, efforts to resolve collective conflict complaints, and confirmation and inspection of grievance complaint handling.
Meanwhile, the district was awarded the Minister of the Interior and Safety’s commendation and received a special grant of 50 million KRW after being selected as an excellent institution in the previous year’s comprehensive evaluation of civil complaint services.
Dongdaemun-gu actively invested the received special grant to alleviate residents’ inconveniences.
When the Dongdaemun Registry Office located in Sinseol-dong was integrated and relocated to the Seoul Northern District Court Registry Office in Dobong-gu, residents experienced the inconvenience of having to travel a long distance to issue corporate-related documents.
In response, the district utilized the special grant to install and operate an unmanned civil complaint issuance machine for court use within the comprehensive civil complaint office, enhancing convenience for civil complaints and receiving great responses from local residents and businesses.
