23 New COVID-19 Cases in Gyeongnam... '3rd Wave's Greatest Crisis' (Summary)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] As of 1:30 PM on the 13th, Gyeongnam Province announced that a total of 23 confirmed cases have occurred: 10 in Changwon, 5 in Jinju, 3 in Gimhae, 2 in Hamyang, 2 in Haman, and 1 in Yangsan.
First, in Changwon, 5 confirmed cases related to a Changwon church were identified and classified as numbers 1641, 1643, 1652, 1656, and 1657.
One additional confirmed case related to the BTJ Yeolbang Center was also added, classified as number 1642. This brings the cumulative confirmed cases related to the BTJ Yeolbang Center to 12.
The remaining 4 cases were classified as numbers 1650, 1653 to 1655 after contact with existing confirmed cases.
Among the 5 confirmed cases in Jinju, 2 were related to the Jinju International Prayer Center, classified as numbers 1638 and 1639.
Additionally, 2 cases with unknown infection routes and 1 case who had contact with a confirmed case in the province were classified as numbers 1637, 1638, and 1646.
In Haman, 1 person who had contact with a confirmed case in the province and 1 nursing home worker in Haman were classified as numbers 1645 and 1651, respectively.
The 2 confirmed cases in Hamyang were both related to the Jinju International Prayer Center, classified as numbers 1647 and 1648. This brings the cumulative confirmed cases related to the Jinju International Prayer Center to 61.
Among the 3 confirmed cases in Gimhae, 2 were classified as numbers 1658 and 1659 after contact with confirmed cases in the province, and 1 confirmed case related to a Busan insurance office was classified as number 1649. This brings the cumulative confirmed cases related to the Busan insurance office to 19.
The single confirmed case in Yangsan was classified as number 1644 after contact with a confirmed case in the metropolitan area.
Accordingly, the cumulative confirmed cases in the province have increased to a total of 1,656 (300 hospitalized, 1,351 discharged, 5 deceased).

Shin Jong-woo, Director of the Provincial Welfare and Health Bureau, said in a briefing that "Although the nationwide spread of COVID-19 is somewhat stabilizing, Gyeongnam is facing the highest crisis since the third wave due to cluster infections related to religious facilities," and urged, "Anyone who suspects even a slight infection should actively get tested."
