Aerial Photographs of Seoul Since 1970, Available Online
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The National Geographic Information Institute announced on the 13th that, through spatial information joint utilization cooperation with Seoul City, it will launch an aerial photograph service that allows aerial photos owned by the city to be viewed and issued on the National Land Information Platform.
The National Land Information Platform, operated by the National Geographic Information Institute, has been providing various national land information such as digital maps, aerial photographs, orthophotos, national control points, and statistical information.
ㅇ Since 2017, to improve public convenience and service quality, aerial photographs individually managed by local governments have been databased and an online free issuance service has been started through the National Land Information Platform.
Accordingly, the viewing and issuance services for a total of 492,470 aerial photographs individually managed by nine local governments, including Seoul City, have been integrated and operated, enabling the expansion of aerial photograph services in national land information.
Aerial photographs, used as materials for property rights verification, attracted about 6,000 visitors annually to the National Geographic Information Institute (more than 70% of all civil petitions), with an average cost of approximately 74,000 KRW.
However, through the National Land Information Platform service, not only can the service be received free of charge, but aerial photographs can also be conveniently viewed or issued without directly visiting the National Geographic Information Institute or the respective local governments.
The newly provided Seoul City aerial photographs allow people to look back at Seoul before urban development in the 1970s and its current appearance, evoking memories of that era.
