Andong-si Awarded 'Best Institution' in Gyeongbuk Province Evaluation for 'Used Battery Collection'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Andong City announced on the 13th that it was selected as the best institution in Gyeongbuk Province for the '2020 Waste Battery Intensive Collection Campaign' conducted by Gyeongbuk Province and received the Korea Battery Recycling Association President's Award.
After setting a target amount of waste battery collection (25.08 tons) last year, Andong City has been collecting and recovering abandoned waste batteries through intensive promotion targeting general households, apartments, public institutions, and schools.
As a result, 25.94 tons were collected, an increase of 2.05 tons compared to the previous year. This is an average of 0.161 kg per resident, which far exceeds the provincial average of 0.065 kg.

An official from Andong City stated, "If citizens make separating and disposing of waste a daily habit through small interests, environmental pollution can be prevented and resources can be saved," and added, "We ask for citizens' interest and participation for the recycling of precious resources."
