Yongsan Seodang Parents Themed Special Lecture ... 'Han Hak! Meeting Flowers, Food, and Crafts'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjanghyun) will operate the 2021 1st quarter 'Yongsan Seodang Parent Theme Lecture' six times from January 28 to March 25.
The theme is 'Han-hak! Meeting Flowers, Food, and Crafts,' with lectures held in the order of Meeting Flowers (1.28, 2.25), Meeting Character Cooking (2.4, 2.18), and Meeting Crafts (3.11, 3.25).
'Meeting Flowers' is a time to envision a life coexisting with plants. Classes include making a garden frame for the heart using succulents, immersive time with flowers, and making a Centerpiece (table centerpiece) of the Doctrine of the Mean (中庸) of my heart.
'Meeting Character Cooking' is a course that combines cooking and character education to enhance students' humanities literacy, where participants can make dried persimmon jars and sandwiches themselves.
'Meeting Crafts' proceeds in the order of making Hanbok air fresheners and mini norigae. It is a lecture on fragrant Hanbok and knot crafts.
The special lectures are conducted non-face-to-face using the online video conferencing program (Zoom). However, if social distancing is eased, it will switch to face-to-face, and face-to-face lectures will be held at the Yongsan Seodang education room.
Residents who wish to participate can apply through the district education comprehensive portal. Fifteen people will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the 22nd. The tuition fee is 10,000 KRW (materials fee separate).
Yongsan Seodang is located in the annex of Yongsan Dream Tree Complex Town (329 Baekbeom-ro, Yongsan-gu). It opened at the end of 2017 and has an area of 137.6㎡, including an education room (75.3㎡), a teacher's room (15.3㎡), and a changing room (11.6㎡).
The regular courses are divided into elementary student classes (beginner, basic, weekend), adult classes (beginner, basic), and special lecture classes (Chinese character proficiency levels), with a capacity of 10 per class. Course contents include beginner/basic Chinese characters, basic radicals, Shuowen Jiezi, Four Books for Children, Thousand Character Classic, and Geokmong Yokyeol.
The tuition fee for regular courses is 20,000 KRW per quarter. Face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes are conducted in parallel depending on the social distancing level.
