Avian Influenza Antigen Detected at a Laying Hen Farm in Nongam-myeon, Mungyeong-si
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A suspected case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been detected at a layer farm in Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk, and authorities are conducting detailed tests.
According to Gyeongbuk Province, on the 12th, an H5 subtype avian influenza antigen was detected at a layer farm in Nongam-myeon, Mungyeong City.
The farm raises 38,000 layers, and the report was made after a decline in egg production and an increase in mortality. Confirmation of high pathogenicity will be available in 1 to 2 days.
Gyeongbuk Province has completely restricted access to the farm and is conducting an epidemiological investigation.

If confirmed as highly pathogenic avian influenza, 190,000 birds from three farms within a 500-meter radius will be culled. Additionally, seven poultry farms with 420,000 birds within a 10 km radius will be subject to emergency surveillance, and movement will be restricted for 30 days.
