On the 12th, in the presidential election conducted through an online electronic voting system by an electorate of 166 members, he received 101 votes, defeating Woo Ki-jung (75), chairman of the Songam Golf Foundation and Daegu Golf Club, and Park No-seung (67), former adjunct professor at Konkuk University Graduate School of Industry. The Korea Golf Association held its first contested presidential election this year since its establishment in 1965. Until now, the president was elected by acclamation with a single candidate. The term of office is four years, from the 26th of this month until January 2015.

"The long-term development of golf begins with grassroots regional golf," he said. "I will strive for mutual growth with provincial and subordinate federations and focus on creating conditions that allow national players to fully concentrate on training," he expressed his thoughts.
