The Center was opened in April 2015 in Sinan-myeon and has been operating since then. Due to the expansion of disability-related projects and an increase in beneficiaries, the need for expansion and relocation has been raised.
The county relocated the Center to 991 Mokhwa-ro near the Danseong-myeon Office and plans to provide various programs such as information provision for families with disabled members, professional family counseling, and family rest support.
Specifically, these include ▲family capacity building and rest support projects ▲daytime activity services for people with developmental disabilities ▲after-school services for students with developmental disabilities ▲disability case management projects ▲assistant job projects for caregivers of people with developmental disabilities.
According to the county, various experts from multiple fields contributed to this expansion and relocation, adding significance.
They enhanced the Center’s functions by painting murals on the building’s exterior walls for art therapy, improving access roads to increase mobility and accessibility, and planting natural landscaping.
A county official said, “The Center is currently the only welfare-related institution for the disabled in the southern region and is expected to become a focal point for local welfare projects. Once the San-encheong Welfare Center branch, currently under construction, is established in Danseong-myeon, the two institutions are expected to create a synergistic effect.”
