Gwangju Seobu Fire Station "Please Replace Old Fire Extinguishers"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Seobu Fire Station (Chief Lee Cheontak) has launched a campaign to promote the replacement of old fire extinguishers.
According to Seobu Fire Station on the 12th, fire extinguishers that are over 10 years old must be discarded or replaced to ensure smooth response in case of fire.
Article 9-5 of the "Act on Fire Prevention, Installation and Maintenance of Firefighting Facilities and Safety Management" and Article 15-4 of the Enforcement Decree of the same law stipulate that the service life of fire extinguishers is 10 years.
Using an old fire extinguisher can cause problems such as deformation or corrosion of the exterior, making it difficult to pull the safety pin or causing the powder to harden so that it does not spray even when the handle is pressed, which can lead to issues during emergencies.
Proper fire extinguisher inspection guidelines include ▲checking whether the needle of the pressure gauge is within the green zone ▲checking for corrosion or damage on the exterior of the fire extinguisher ▲shaking the fire extinguisher to confirm that the sound of powder moving is heard smoothly.
