[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 11th that it will form the 'Ministry of the Interior and Safety COVID-19 Vaccination Support Team' to assist with the COVID-19 vaccination starting next month, and will begin full-scale operations from the 12th.
The support team will work alongside the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's 'Vaccination Response Promotion Team' to monitor local governments' vaccine preparation and implementation status, promptly resolve difficulties encountered on-site, and actively support the Disease Control and local governments so they can focus on vaccination efforts.
The support team, led by Kim Hee-gyeom, Head of the Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters, consists of 27 members across three divisions and will operate until the vaccine vaccination is completed. Among them, the 'Situation Management Division' will focus on inspecting and supporting the establishment of 'Local Government Vaccination Promotion Teams,' local governments' vaccination plans, and vaccination resources. The 'On-site Issues and Suggestions Handling Division' will identify and actively resolve obstacles that may arise at the frontline during vaccination. The 'Vaccination Information Guidance Service Support Division' will provide 24-hour assistance so that the public can receive information about vaccination timing, methods, and reservation details.
Meanwhile, Minister Jeon Hae-cheol of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to visit Sangdang Health Center in Cheongju, Chungbuk Province, on the afternoon of the 12th to inspect the vaccination preparation status of Chungbuk Province and Cheongju City, and to identify any difficulties or support needs during the on-site preparation process.

Minister Jeon stated, "From overseas cases that started vaccination ahead of us, we can see that without meticulous preparation of the entire delivery system, including distribution, vaccination facilities, and securing reliability, effective vaccination cannot be expected. We will maintain close cooperation with related agencies such as the Disease Control Agency and local governments, thoroughly check potential problems that may arise on-site in advance, and ensure that the public can receive COVID-19 vaccinations safely and promptly."
