On the 11th, Dongkuk Steel announced that it has set the sales target for this year's new concept thick plate brand 'DK-LP Plate' more than 10% higher than the previous year.
DK-LP Plate is a product developed based on Dongkuk Steel's top-tier steel rolling technology. It is a new concept thick plate that can be manufactured into structures without welds by making thick plates of different thicknesses into a single plate.
This product can be mainly used in various parts where thickness changes occur in large ships. It can be applied by varying the thickness according to strength. In particular, it can omit welding and inspection, significantly reducing costs, shortening construction time, and greatly improving safety.

A Dongkuk Steel official said, "Since the first product development in 2018, we have conducted continuous technical exchange meetings and marketing activities with demand companies such as shipbuilders for over two years," adding, "As a result, last year, major shipbuilders recognized its commercial viability and began adopting it in actual ship manufacturing, and we expect full-scale sales to begin this year."
