This program was implemented to establish a three-stage basic academic skills safety net of ‘School - Education Support Office Learning Comprehensive Clinic Center - Provincial Office of Education Basic Academic Skills Support Center’ to prevent learning gaps during the vacation by supporting basic academic skills improvement programs tailored to school conditions and students' characteristics.
In elementary schools, student-tailored programs such as initial literacy, basic numeracy, English phonics, subject learning improvement classes, and non-academic emotional support programs will be intensively operated to ensure stable establishment of basic academic skills and to simultaneously take responsibility for care and learning.
Additionally, middle schools such as Naju Gongsan Middle School and Sinan Jangsan Middle School plan to operate basic learning classes in English and math and 1:1 mentoring to improve self-directed learning abilities, aiming to enhance academic achievement and reduce academic gaps among middle and lower-ranking students.
The 22 Education Support Offices will provide visiting learning coaching through the Learning Comprehensive Clinic Centers. These centers support basic academic skills, learning motivation enhancement programs, and 1:1 customized learning for about 430 students experiencing learning difficulties due to academic and non-academic factors.
In particular, Gangjin Jungang Elementary School continues to operate the ‘1:1 Basic Academic Skills Mentoring’ with university students during the vacation, which was conducted during the semester, and the Mokpo, Suncheon, and Gangjin Education Support Offices are also operating comprehensive academic gap reduction programs in collaboration with universities such as Mokpo National University and Suncheon National University involving university students.
