Mayor Cho Gyu-il stated at a briefing on the 10th, “The city will implement the 4th Support Measures worth 28.87 billion KRW in four sectors to provide customized support mainly for small business owners for areas where government support measures are insufficient, and to offer additional support from the city to those excluded from existing support, thereby reducing blind spots in the local economy.”
This is an additional measure following the city’s implementation of emergency support measures worth 88.3 billion KRW in three rounds last year.
The 4th Support Measures will inject 28.87 billion KRW urgently into four sectors: ▲Jinju-type jobs 3.18 billion KRW ▲Revitalization of small and medium enterprises and small business owners 22 billion KRW ▲Citizen-centered sectors such as agriculture, culture and arts, and transportation 3.26 billion KRW ▲Medical sector 420 million KRW.
The Jinju-type jobs have helped revitalize the local economy and create stable income, and this year will be provided to about 1,000 people in three sectors, selecting about 760 people (1.51 billion KRW) focusing on quarantine and about 240 people (1.67 billion KRW) for livelihood-type public work projects.
The city’s support targets include small business owners and SMEs most affected by COVID-19, and about 1,500 special employment types and freelancers who did not receive the 3rd support benefits will receive 500,000 KRW per person, totaling 750 million KRW in living expenses, and the unpaid 3 billion KRW from last year’s 3rd support will also be promptly paid.
The city will support 5.5 billion KRW to 50 cultural organizations and 500 artists in the cultural and arts fields such as culture, dance, fine arts, and music, which have faced difficulties due to the cancellation of various cultural events amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Mayor Cho Gyu-il said, “Just as the city responded well to the COVID-19 situation last year, we will proactively respond to the recovery of the local economy this year as well,” adding, “With a robust Jinju-type quarantine system and economic measures, we will move forward vigorously as a ‘safe city, happy Jinju.’”
