Trump Supporters Move to Far-Right Favorite SNS 'Parler'... Google and Apple to Block Parler Downloads
[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] Conservative hardliners supporting U.S. President Donald Trump are moving to 'Parler,' a social media service (SNS) known as the platform for right-wing users, in protest against Twitter's strong sanctions.
Fox News reported on the 9th (local time) that as Twitter took strong measures such as permanently suspending President Trump's account, Trump supporters and some Republican politicians are fleeing to the right-wing SNS 'Parler.'
'Parler' is known as an SNS favored by far-right group members and white supremacists.
Representative Thomas Massie (Republican, Kentucky) announced he would move his social media account from Twitter to Parler, and Representative Madison Cawthorn (Republican, North Carolina) posted a message on Twitter promoting his Parler account along with an image of the U.S. flag.
Conservative radio host Mark Levin urged Trump supporters to move to Parler, saying, "We protest Twitter's fascism."
Earlier, on the 8th, after his Twitter account was blocked, President Trump stated, "We will not be silenced," adding, "We are in talks with several sites and will have a big announcement soon. We are also exploring the possibility of creating our own platform in the near future."
According to IT specialized media TechCrunch, the number of downloads of the Parler app from the Apple App Store surged from 55,000 on the 7th to 268,000 on the 8th.
Brad Parscale, former campaign manager for Trump's re-election campaign, said, "It seems Parler's servers are being overwhelmed by people leaving Twitter," and urged, "Please continue to fight for freedom of the press."

Meanwhile, as Trump supporters move to Parler, Google announced that starting from the 8th, Parler would be blocked from being downloaded from its app store. Apple also warned that if Parler does not block messages inciting violence, it will be removed from the App Store.
