Gowoo Academy Produces Numerous Successful Applicants to Top Metropolitan Universities for College Admission
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] The 'Goui Academy,' directly operated by the Gyeongbuk Uljin-gun Scholarship Foundation to reduce private education expenses for parents, is receiving great responses.
According to Uljin-gun on the 9th, the Goui Academy, which started in 2009 under the name 'Uljin Village School,' played a significant support role for students preparing for college entrance exams last year by inviting instructors from famous Seoul entrance exam specialized academies to provide Korean, English, and Math classes as well as college admission counseling programs.
Among a total of 113 high school seniors who studied at Goui Academy (29 in curricular subjects, 84 in extracurricular subjects), 44 succeeded in early admission. About 20 students were admitted to major universities in the metropolitan area, including Seoul National University (1), Yonsei University (1), and Sungkyunkwan University (1).
This year, Uljin-gun plans to continue scholarship and educational projects such as scholarships for high school students, scholarships for university students, operation of the Jaegyeong Uljin Dormitory and Local Life Hall, and support for residents of the Pukyong National University Happy Dormitory.

Jeon Chan-geol, the county governor (Chairman of the Uljin-gun Scholarship Foundation), said, "Nurturing talent is the greatest task we must undertake for the future of Uljin-gun," adding, "We will spare no support in various fields beyond academics so that students in Uljin-gun do not fall behind just because they are in a provincial area."
