476 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide by 6 PM...18 Fewer Than Previous Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Although the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea has somewhat eased, new confirmed cases continue to emerge.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments including Seoul City, a total of 476 new confirmed cases tested positive for COVID-19 from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 8th. This is 18 fewer than the 494 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
Looking at the regional distribution of confirmed cases, 352 cases (73.9%) were in the metropolitan area, while 124 cases (26.1%) were reported in non-metropolitan areas.
By city and province, Gyeonggi had the highest number with 168 cases, followed by Seoul with 137, Incheon 47, Chungbuk 23, Chungnam 20, Gyeongnam 16, Gyeongbuk 13, Ulsan 12, Busan and Daegu each with 9, Jeonbuk 8, Gangwon 5, Daejeon 4, Jeonnam 3, and Jeju 2. No new confirmed cases have been reported so far in Sejong and Gwangju.
However, since there is still time until midnight when the tally is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases announced at midnight on the 9th is expected to increase.

Regarding major infection cases, the cumulative confirmed cases related to Dongbu Detention Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul, have increased to 1,177. Additionally, in Gyeonggi, 9 new cases were added related to a meat processing company in Yangju-si, raising the cumulative confirmed cases to 70.
