On the 8th, Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 1 Chief Judge Kim Jeong-hwan announced that A, who was tried on charges of quasi-fraud for targeting intoxicated customers, soliciting them, and then taking their credit cards to withdraw money, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison, while B and C were sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year probation.
According to the Ulsan District Court, these karaoke room owners in a busy district of Ulsan city would lure intoxicated customers found on the street into their karaoke rooms. They made the intoxicated customers order expensive drinks and, under the pretense of prepayment, obtained their credit cards and PIN numbers.
From September 2019 to February of last year, they collected about 82 million won from six customers by withdrawing money after receiving their cards.
They also committed bold crimes such as stealing customers' precious jewelry like rings and necklaces, and even taking out loans using the customers' mobile phones.
