Death of a USFK Soldier During Training
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]One U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) soldier died in a vehicle rollover accident during training.
According to the 2nd Infantry Division of USFK on the 8th, on the 5th, a vehicle driven by Staff Sergeant James Wento overturned during training at the Rodriguez live-fire training range in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province. USFK reported that Staff Sergeant Wento was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wento, a military emergency vehicle mechanic assigned to the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2009 and completed training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was deployed twice to Afghanistan and was assigned to the 2nd Aviation Brigade in May last year.
