Woorinet Selected as Contractor for KT Next-Generation Integrated Access Transmission Equipment Pilot Network Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Woorinet announced on the 7th that it has been selected as the builder for the 'KT Next-Generation Integrated Access Transmission Equipment (M-POTN) Pilot Network' project. This construction project is scheduled to proceed until May. M-POTN is a next-generation platform device that integrates the interworking functions of MSPP (Multi-Service Provisioning Platform) based on metro-level (medium-capacity) POTN (Packet Optical Transport Network).
Woorinet plans to supply the OPN-3100, an integrated transmission device developed based on a 2.4-terabit POTN, for this project. The OPN-3100 is equipment that provides an MPLS-TP (domestically produced Multi-Protocol Label Switching) 100G interface, offering efficient traffic management and network configuration, and is also known for its high operational management convenience. It has a compatible structure with the 1.2T-level POTN, which completed commercialization in early 2019 and is expanding market supply.
Considering future traffic surges due to next-generation public networks and changes in communication environments, Woorinet is continuously focusing on research and development. It is conducting research on the latest technologies such as FlexE/FlexO, encryption, 400G interfaces, intelligent management systems, and CDCF-ROADM, and is promoting the development of a 16-terabit POTN aiming for commercialization in 2022.
