Professor Lee Seon-ho of Honam University Department of Food Service and Culinary Arts Receives Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Honam University announced on the 7th that Professor Lee Seon-ho of the Department of Culinary Arts won the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award at the '16th Tteok and Hangwa Festival.'
Hosted by the Korea Traditional Tteok and Hangwa Globalization Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, Professor Lee won the ministerial award by presenting Da-eul-gwa and Bingsa-gwa at the '2020 16th Tteok and Hangwa Festival' held last month.
Da-eul-gwa is a hangwa recorded in the old cookbook 'Yorok' around 1680. It is made by frying honey dough, powdering it, then kneading it again to shape it. It is easy to make and tastes good.
Bingsa-gwa means 'a translucent confection like ice.' It is a wise ancestral food made by using scraps left after making the base for Sanja.
Professor Lee became the youngest to acquire the Korean Culinary Master (Korean and Western cuisine) in 2004, and won the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award at the 'KOREA FOOD EXPO 2008 International Cooking Competition' with a Mediterranean seafood three-course dish.

He also received the Gwangju Mayor's Award for the '2011 Small and Medium Business Administration Excellent Project' for developing a well-being sausage and sundae using pumpkin, and obtained three patents including the manufacturing method of well-being baguette (2012), manufacturing method of pumpkin sundae (2013), and manufacturing method of Mareumjuk and its products (2017).
