5 Cafes in Haengam-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Host 'Cafe Day' with Residents
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] At the end of last year, five small cafes in Haengam-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City held a year-end event with local residents.
The event was planned as a way to revitalize the local community amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The participating cafes were Cafe Bravi, Cafe Delight, Cafe 302st, Cafe Diasum, and Village Cafe Namdongpung, centered around Gonghana Cooperative.
In particular, this event was supported by the Gwangju Social Economy Support Center’s Consortium Activation Support Project, recruited study groups among village enterprises by the Gwangju Village Enterprise Association, and two village enterprises in Haengam-dong conducted the event under the theme "Surviving in the Local Community."
In accordance with the social distancing level 2 guidelines, the event was operated in a way that allowed unlimited takeout of signature menus from any of the five participating cafes using a pre-issued free pass.
All participants received one glove, and 10 couples were given couple gloves.
One participant said, “It was great to taste various signature menus from several cafes at an affordable price, and although I had been feeling depressed due to COVID-19, this special experience, which I normally wouldn’t have had, became an opportunity to refresh my mood.”
