This meeting was arranged to check the safety navigation status of shipping companies currently passing through the Strait of Hormuz and to discuss future response measures amid escalating instability in the Middle East, following the detention of the "Hanguk Chemiho" by Iranian authorities on the 4th. Fifteen shipping companies, including DM Shipping and Tycoon Shipping, will participate in the meeting.
At the meeting, Minister Moon is expected to say, "The government is making multifaceted efforts to resolve this detention incident early," and urge, "As instability in the Middle East is intensifying, shipping companies should maintain safe navigation of their vessels and the highest level of vigilance."

Earlier, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries strengthened safety measures related to this incident by establishing a real-time communication system with Korean shipping companies operating in the Strait of Hormuz, shortening the position reporting interval from 6 hours to 1 hour, and inspecting the Ship Security Alert System (SSAS) 24 hours before entering the area.
