Ministry of Foreign Affairs Welcomes Gulf-Arab Solidarity and Cooperation, 'Al-Ula Declaration'
At the GCC Summit, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and 2 Other Countries Restore Diplomatic Relations with Qatar
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The government welcomed the declaration made at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among Gulf and Arab countries and to resume the free movement of goods and personnel.
On the 6th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a spokesperson's comment, "The Korean government welcomes the Al-Ula Declaration announced at the GCC summit held in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia, where participating countries agreed to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among Gulf and Arab nations and to resume the free movement of goods and personnel."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added, "We highly appreciate the mediation efforts of the Kuwaiti government for resolving conflicts and promoting integration in the Gulf region," and "The Korean government will continue to cooperate with GCC member states, Gulf and Arab countries, and related nations for peace and stability in the Middle East."
Previously, four Arab countries?Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Egypt?agreed to restore diplomatic relations with Qatar, with which they had severed ties for over three years. Although not a GCC member, Egypt, which had cut ties with Qatar, also sent a delegation to attend the summit.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed gratitude to Kuwait and the United States for their mediation roles, stating, "Through this agreement, we confirm the solidarity and stability of the Gulf, Arab, and Islamic worlds." He also added, "We must join efforts to confront challenges such as the Iranian regime's nuclear and ballistic missile programs."
