Budget Phone Association "Untact Plan Wholesale Provision Must Be Decided Quickly"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The MVNO Association stated regarding SK Telecom's 'Untact Plan' that "we do not oppose the price reduction," while expressing hope that "the timing and wholesale price for offering the new discounted plans to MVNOs will be established."
On the 6th, the MVNO Association said, "While we welcome SK Telecom's efforts to reduce communication fees with its 5G and LTE Untact Plans, we are deeply concerned that it may lead to the market exit of MVNO operators."
The MVNO Association clarified that it does not oppose any new plans that reduce fees. However, it emphasized the need to promptly open wholesale provision so that MVNOs can also sell the discounted products.
The association expressed concern, stating, "The wholesale provision status for all three LTE and Untact products from SK Telecom remains undecided. Without prompt wholesale provision and price adjustments for the Untact products, MVNOs will find it difficult to enter the 5G market, and LTE subscriber churn may accelerate rapidly."
