Heo Eun-ah: "For the Democratic Party, Civic Groups Are 'Power Support Organizations'... Victims Are 'Targets for Elimination'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Rep. Heo Eun-ah of the People Power Party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea by saying, "For the Democratic Party, civic groups are 'power support organizations,'" while referring to the Nam In-soon incident.
On the 6th, Rep. Heo stated on Facebook, "Looking at the Nam incident, one can see the operating principle of the Democratic Party."
She pointed out that the late Mayor Park Won-soon's victim side appealed to the civic group Korea Sexual Violence Counseling Center, which informed the executive director of the related civic group Korea Women's Associations United, who then reported this to Rep. Nam, who informed the Seoul City gender advisor, and eventually the information reached the late Mayor Park.
Rep. Heo said, "Logically, the 'Counseling Center' and 'Korea Women's Associations United' should have held a press conference to inform the media about Mayor Park's sexual harassment case, reported it to the police to initiate an investigation, protected the victim, and taken legal action, rather than reporting it to a ruling party lawmaker," adding, "However, these civic groups tried to protect the perpetrator, not the victim."
She emphasized, "Rep. Nam is a former executive director of Korea Women's Associations United, and Im Soon-young, the Seoul City gender advisor, is a former aide to Rep. Nam and a former research fellow at the Hope Institute founded by the late Mayor Park. Seeing how these civic groups, local governments, and even the National Assembly are controlled by these people reveals the principle by which the Democratic Party seizes and operates power."

Rep. Heo said, "For them, civic groups are not organizations for citizens but 'power support organizations' for power, and victims who are not on their side are not subjects of protection but targets to be concealed and eliminated," adding, "I hope that from now on, 'civic groups' will engage in reasonable activities that fulfill their original roles."
