Gyeongnam Reports 26 New COVID-19 Cases in One Day... Total Confirmed Cases Reach 1,451 (Comprehensive 2)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] As of 5 PM on the 5th, Gyeongnam Province announced that 26 confirmed cases have occurred: 12 in Jinju, 7 in Changwon, 3 in Yangsan, 2 in Hadong, and 1 each in Geoje and Gimhae.
Among the 12 in Jinju, 7 tested positive after contact with confirmed cases within the province and were classified as cases 1435, 1437, 1446, 1449, 1454, and 1460.
Three individuals who got tested after experiencing symptoms themselves were classified as cases 1445, 1452, and 1459. Cases 1450 and 1451 are infections from overseas arrivals. Additionally, a man in his 20s who had contact with a confirmed case from Chungnam was classified as case 1453.
In Changwon, among the 7 confirmed cases, 2 were classified as cases 1436 and 1444 after getting tested due to symptoms they experienced themselves. One person who had contact with a confirmed case within the province developed symptoms during self-quarantine and was classified as case 1440 after testing.
Two confirmed cases related to the provincial Office of Education, who are family members, tested positive before being released from quarantine and were classified as cases 1441 and 1442. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the provincial Office of Education to 14.
A man in his 20s who had contact with a confirmed case’s family was classified as case 1458 after testing positive. A woman in her 50s who arrived from overseas also tested positive and was classified as case 1443.
In Yangsan, three confirmed cases were reported: a woman in her 60s, a man in his 40s with an unknown infection route, and a man in his 30s, classified as cases 1455, 1456, and 1457 respectively.
The two confirmed cases in Hadong were both contacts of confirmed cases from Jeonnam and were classified as cases 1447 and 1448. Case 1447 is a student attending a middle school in Hadong, and a full inspection will be conducted for 23 faculty members and 82 students at the school.
The single confirmed case in Gimhae is related to the Busan insurance office cluster and was classified as case 1438. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the Busan insurance office cluster to 13.
The one confirmed case in Geoje was classified as case 1439 after the individual got tested due to symptoms they experienced themselves; the infection route is under investigation.
Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has risen to 1,457 (318 hospitalized, 1,135 discharged, 4 deceased).
