Gwangyang Mayor Jeong Hyun-bok Delivers Video Briefing on 'Last Year's Key Achievements and City Administration Direction'
Held as a Non-Face-to-Face New Year Press Conference Following Social Distancing Level 2

The originally planned New Year's press conference was converted into a non-face-to-face briefing video due to the maintenance of social distancing level 2 amid the spread of COVID-19, and it is scheduled to be posted on the city's official website.
Through the briefing video, Mayor Jeong Hyun-bok of Gwangyang said, "This year, we have secured a record-high national budget of 456.8 billion KRW, an increase of 116.1 billion KRW compared to last year. Despite the worst corporate sentiment caused by COVID-19, we signed MOUs and attracted investments worth approximately 1.3742 trillion KRW with 34 companies throughout last year. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of citizens and the dedicated efforts of public officials, we are smoothly sailing toward 'A New 30 Years, A Greater Gwangyang.' The second half of the 7th elected administration will lead change and innovation by promoting the 'Gwangyang-style Korean New Deal Policy' in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era," he said.
Major achievements of last year include ▲ Providing emergency disaster living expenses of 200,000 KRW per person to all citizens, the first in Jeonnam, and distributing five masks per household ▲ Fostering future new industries and establishing the foundation for Jeonnam's number one economic city ▲ Laying the groundwork for growth as a tourism, culture, and arts city ▲ Achieving 20,000 regular sponsorship accounts for the 'Gwangyang City Children's Care Foundation,' the first of its kind nationwide.
Future directions for city administration emphasize ▲ Strengthening future new industries and revitalizing the local livelihood economy ▲ Expanding empathetic welfare by life cycle and strengthening the social safety net ▲ Expanding the foundation for stay-type tourism and cultural city enjoyed with citizens ▲ Promoting regional growth through urban settlement base expansion ▲ Creating a livable and safe city.
