Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Gyeom-su Takes Lead in Warm Winter Donation Using QR Codes
Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Gyeom-su and Gangbuk-gu Council Chairman Lee Yong-gyun Lead as First Participants... Donation via QR Code, URL Text Transmission Method to Pass to Next Participants... Ongoing Until January 30
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) has been conducting the donation relay campaign "Cheer Up! Gangbuk" using QR codes since the 30th of last month as part of the Warm Winter Project.
The district announced that the relay was launched because participation in the Warm Winter Project by residents has been shrinking due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the economic downturn.
The first participants were Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Kyum-soo and Gangbuk-gu Council Chairman Lee Yong-gyun. After making donations, the two sent the QR code URL via text message to the next participants to continue the sharing.
The relay will continue until January 30. The district plans to actively promote the campaign to encourage residents' participation. Residents who have not been nominated can also participate using the Gangbuk-gu QR code of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea. The collected donations will be used for residents in crisis, such as low-income households in the area.
Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Kyum-soo said, "By using a non-face-to-face method, the risk of infection is reduced and the donation amount is not exposed externally, so residents can participate without burden," and added, "I hope the culture of sharing spreads and becomes a great support to neighbors suffering from COVID-19."
Meanwhile, despite the difficult conditions due to COVID-19, warm kindness and hopeful gestures continue in Gangbuk-gu. On December 8 last year, 7beon Pharmacy located on Dobong-ro donated a total of 350 boxes of kimchi to Beon 1-dong and Ui-dong community centers.
